FAQs

Our tours can be whatever you want them to be. Our role is to listen to your specific interests and wishes, add to them our intimate knowledge of the area and its wider context, to craft a package for you that makes it a truly memorable experience.

We are a husband and wife team, and so can guarantee that your tour will be guided by one or other of us. We each have our specialities, and we try to match the most appropriate guide with each individual tour.

Although Julian speaks Dutch and French fluently (and smatterings of other languages) the historical and geological words are currently a bit beyond him. He’s working on it though, and will do his best in the meantime.

We charge £180 for up to three hours, £220 for 3-5 hours and £250 for 5-8 hours

We operate with a maximum ration of 1:6 between guide and clients, although on certain routes we use a minimum of two guides.

If your group is larger than 12 then please get in touch – we frequently work together with other guides.

We enjoy tailoring our walks for different abilities and will discuss your goals and previous experience when you book with us. We take a pace appropriate to the group, taking time to enjoy the view, flora and fauna.

We welcome well behaved dogs on our walks. They must be kept under control at all times and not trouble wildlife or farmstock. At certain times of year, dogs will need to be kept on a lead due to ground nesting birds and farming activities. Do have a look at the Outdoor Access Code.

We always keep a close eye on weather forecasts in the weeks and days before your walk and also on the day. We always have several contingency plans in place on the day – these could include a change in venue or shortening or changing a route. Sometimes the weather is better than forecast too!
As skilled guides, we have a wealth of experience to draw on in assessing and addressing a wide variety of scenarios. We are both trained in outdoor first aid and are local cardiac responders. The appropriate response might be anything from a short rest and taking stock of the situation to requesting external help. We carry GPS tracking devices to initiate this response.
